Terry Adamik, President

Board president Terry Adamik, from Adams County, PA, is a five-term elected county treasurer who manages for the county a multi-million dollar portfolio. She serves on several nonprofit boards, is active in land and resource conservation and other environmental efforts. She holds a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration.

Sjur Haugen, Vice President

Sjur Haugen currently serves as Director of Product Quality & Development in Circle K Europe, a leading fuel retailer in Scandinavia, Ireland,  the Baltics, Poland and parts of Russia. He has a 25 year career at Equinor ASA (formerly known as Statoil ASA), the international oil and gas company, and has held positions in upstream, midstream, and downstream related areas. Sjur is an alternative energy, biofuels and methanol expert, having worked many years in methanol sales and business development for Statoil. He has significant experience working to develop international business models focused on delivering clean energy. Sjur has led exploratory work jointly with UNIDO to identify solutions promoting “Access to Sustainable Energy for All” – a key UN target. Sjur has served on a number of boards as chairman and vice-chairman.

Chris Kimple, Secretary & Treasurer

Chris Kimple, a native of Adams Country, has served as a part-time accounts manager for Project Gaia since 2007 and has a thorough knowledge of Project Gaia’s history of operations. She is the District Office Manager of the 91st Pennsylvania Legislative District Office in Gettysburg. Prior to that, she worked for the County of Adams in the Adams County Commissioners’ office and the Prothonotary’s office.  She has a degree in paralegal studies. She has served on several nonprofit boards of directors, including the board of the Land Conservancy of Adams County. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Gettysburg and serves as its international service chair.

Bengt Ebbeson, Director

One of the founding members of Project Gaia, Bengt is the original inventor of the Origo alcohol stove, the prototype for the Dometic CleanCook stove promoted today throughout Africa and Latin America. He has received both aeronautical engineering and mechanical engineering degrees and holds a number of patents for automotive safety and household appliances. Now retired, Bengt is an accomplished sailor and can often be found at sea.

Rodger Goodacre

Rodger Goodacre is an experienced administrator and manager of federal health care programs. He started out his career with the Peace Corps in 1973 – 1975 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) where he served as a University English professor, teaching at the National University. Today he is a member of the South Central PA Returned Peace Corps Association.

From 1978 to 2012, he held various administrative and management positions for federal health care programs with the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Headquarters’ in Baltimore, MD including serving as the principal senior advisor to the Director of Public Affairs and Liaison with State and local governments, professional, business and beneficiary organizations in the early 1980s.  From 2000 through retirement in 2013, he executed outreach and coordination activities for CMS program benefits for American Indians and Alaska Natives.  Roger served as principal senior analyst and Deputy Office Director, responsible for coordinating the Medicare, Medicaid and State Children’s Health Insurance programs with other federal agencies, including the Indian Health Service, SSA and VA and with State Agencies for Indian beneficiaries nationwide.  Roger graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in English and received his J.D. from the University of Maryland.

Adrienne Clark, Secretary & Treasurer

Adrienne Clarke is the Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship at Gettysburg College. She has extensive experience in higher education as a lecturer and administrator. Prior to working in development, Adrienne was the Assistant Director of Off Campus Studies and served as a liaison between the college and PGI. Adrienne has a M.Phil in Film Studies from Trinity College Dublin and a B.A. in Film Studies from John Hopkins University.

Agnes Klingshirn, Director

Agnes Klingshirn, based in Germany, is trained as a social anthropologist. Her PhD focused on the changing position of women in Ghana. She taught development studies at Marburg University before joining the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). After six years of planning and coordinating the Household Energy Programme in Kenya, she spent ten years leading GIZ’s integrated Household Energy Programme (HEP). She has also worked in UNHCR refugee camps in Kenya, Namibia and Pakistan. For the last ten years she has been working as Senior Energy Consultant for GIZ and other international organizations.
